Somehow I have managed to hit three flying birds with a car in just 4 years of driving. I hit #3 this afternoon in the Miata. First time since I bought it that I stopped smiling. I don't know if they actually died or not but I feel bad. However Im not gonna risk an incident happening over swerving to not hit a bird.

Excellent thinking. Too many people will jerk the wheel over to avoid the bird (or whatever) before realizing they're turning into oncoming traffic / obstacle / whatever and doing more damage to themselves / others.

When I started road racing, the instructor said, "When you're at speed, if you see an animal in the road, aim for it. When you get there, it'll either have run out of the way, or you'll be better off going through it than leaving the road at 100+ mph.

Unless it's a cow."

How about some Tarrus Riley for you?

If you like roots reggae, then Tarrus, Beres Hammond, Cocoa Tea are good bets

...speaking of birds, this is what happens when you hit a turkey at 60 mph.

When my oldest brother first started driving, birds would fly out in front of him constantly. Like you he felt bad each time, but eventually got fed up by it. One day while driving around a city, he turns down a one way street which is otherwise unoccupied except for a bird just standing near a puddle some ways down the road. He stops and they exchange glances. He guns it. The bird never tried to get away. It just hopped around happily until a Chevy Celebrity got close enough that the bird could join its fowl brethren amongst the vehicles grill.

My brother was pretty shaken up, but my other brother and I were in stitches. It seemed to have broken the curse and his hit ratio was way down after that.

It was 2:00 in the morning. I saw it for a total of about 1/4 second & just kept driving. It damaged my windshield frame & came close to totaling my car.

its a shame because they are just normal birds not causing any harm but sometimes they fly into trouble. but the birds that wake me up in the morning are on my shit list.
